How to Engage

How Partnership Works

Douglas County Philanthropy exists to strengthen how local giving works — and that work is sustained through shared responsibility.

Partnership is not about visibility or influence. It is about stewardship: contributing time, perspective, resources, and leadership to help build the systems and relationships that allow local generosity to function with clarity, trust, and long-term impact.

We invite participation broadly and partnership intentionally — ensuring the work remains open, credible, and grounded in shared purpose.

Partner Roles

Civic Partners

Civic Partners play a leadership role in sustaining the infrastructure that supports effective local philanthropy.

They may include businesses, foundations, professional firms, and community-minded organizations that want to contribute meaningfully to the long-term health of Douglas County.

Civic Partners help support:

  • Education and shared learning

  • Community gatherings, including the Douglas County Philanthropy Summit

  • Resources and communication that strengthen alignment across sectors

Civic Partners are recognized for their stewardship and commitment, while programming and priorities remain guided by shared community need — not promotional goals.

Community Partners

Community Partners are nonprofit organizations and community groups engaged in local work and local impact.

Their role is participatory rather than transactional — contributing insight, experience, and perspective to shared learning and collaboration across the philanthropic ecosystem.

Community Partners benefit from:

  • Access to education and gatherings

  • Clearer pathways to engage donors and businesses

  • Increased coordination and shared understanding across the community

Community participation is central to the work and is never gated by financial contribution.

Strategic Partners

Strategic Partners are professionals and advisors who work alongside nonprofits and community organizations — including legal, financial, creative, and technical partners.

Their role is to engage with local philanthropy thoughtfully, contribute expertise with integrity, and deepen shared understanding of how fundraising and giving function in practice.

Strategic Partners are invited to participate in learning, dialogue, and collaboration — not to market services, but to strengthen long-term capacity and trust.

Support & Pricing Philosophy

Douglas County Philanthropy is supported through civic partnership and shared investment in community infrastructure.

Support is shaped by the scope of contribution and responsibility taken on — not access, influence, or outcomes.

Financial support may help sustain:

  • Education and learning opportunities

  • Community gatherings and the annual Summit

  • Shared communication and coordination tools

  • Capacity-building resources that benefit the broader community

We take a deliberate approach to support — prioritizing integrity, alignment, and long-term value over transactional sponsorships.

Specific support opportunities are shaped collaboratively to ensure shared purpose and appropriate scope.

Participation & Membership

Open Participation

Participation in Douglas County Philanthropy initiatives is open by design.

Nonprofits, businesses, donors, advisors, and community members are welcome to engage through:

  • Public education opportunities

  • Community gatherings

  • Shared resources and communication platforms

Participation and access to learning are never contingent on financial contribution.

Intentional Partnership

Some choose to engage more deeply by serving as partners and supporters of the work.

These partnerships help sustain the infrastructure that benefits the entire community and are shaped with care to ensure:

  • Alignment of values

  • Appropriate capacity

  • Shared responsibility and trust

Participation is open.
Partnership is intentional.

Stay Connected

There is no single way to engage — and that flexibility is intentional.

Some participate through learning.
Some through partnership.
Some through civic leadership and support.

If you are interested in being part of this work — and in helping strengthen how local giving works in Douglas County — we welcome the conversation.
